Despite the vagaries of the weather, excellent galleries turned-out for the penultimate day of the Volvo Masters and they were rewarded with two rounds of world class golf from Europe’s finest players.

Following the wash-out on the second day of the 21st and final Volvo Masters, the galleries were out in force for the traditional Saturday feast of golf at Valderrama and the large galleries were treated to a double helping of great golf as the 56 best players on the European Tour completed their second and, in most cases their third round of the season-ending showpiece.

Following Friday’s deluge, many of the players had to either complete and, in some cases start their second rounds and despite an 08.30am start, the galleries following the marquee matches were three deep.

And, with Spanish star Sergio García very much in contention for the Spanish crowds to cheer and Order of Merit contender Lee Westwood and last year’s runner-up Simon Dyson close to the top of the leaderboard, British visitors had plenty to cheer about.

Like the Robson family from near to London, following first Lee Westwood and then Sergio García.

“It’s been fantastic,” said 10-year-old Thomas Robson, his father David, a seven-handicapper adding, “Watching the rhythm of the swings is awesome and the quality of the ball-striking is out of this world.”

Meanwhile, mother, Lucy Robson said, “It’s a very friendly event, the players are so accessible and it’s a great family day out.”

Added spectator Karin Walther from the Costa del Sol, “The organization at the Volvo Masters was fantastic and congratulations to the team that made it such a brilliant day out.”

Assuming most of the third rounds can be completed on Saturday, play is expected to commence at 08.30am on Sunday 2nd November with players going out in groups of three, the leaders after the third round going out last.
